Infants and Toddlers
From the very beginning, babies are learning about their bodies and the world around them.
In those early months, you begin to notice the little things. How your baby turns their head, moves their arms and legs, spends time on their tummy and gradually becomes more curious about movement. Before long, those early movements become rolling, sitting, crawling, standing and eventually those first steps.
The nervous system plays an important role in carrying information between the brain and body and coordinating movement. This forms part of the bigger picture we consider when looking at how an infant or toddler is moving and functioning.
Parents often know their little ones incredibly well. You may notice that a particular movement seems uncomfortable, restricted or simply different from one side to the other. We take the time to listen to what you have noticed and complete an assessment appropriate for your child’s age, history and presentation.
Infants and toddlers are not little adults, and their care should not look the same. Our approach is gentle, age-appropriate and adapted to the individual child, with plenty of time for them to feel safe and comfortable with us.
We will always explain what we are looking at, what we find and what their care involves, so you can feel informed and confident in the decisions you make for your little one.
If something about your little one’s movement has caught your attention, we’re here to take a closer look with you.
